?>Confusion about the harmful and beneficial health effects of fats abounds. Low-fat, no-fat, good fat… Where does the truth in all this really lie? As you might suspect, the answer is more complex than the no-fat/low-fat proponents would have you believe. Fats form the lipid membrane that surrounds each cell in your body, and the relative proportions of different fats present in the membrane plays a critical role in normal cell functions. In this article, we explore the different kinds of dietary fats, common myths associated with them, and the ideal fats to consume through diet and/or supplementation.18 Oct 19According to Statistics Canada, 1 in 10 individuals between the ages of 12 and 44 experience chronic pain. Once traditional medicine has been helpful in the acute-pain stage (e.g. first aid, over-the-counter pain killers, heat/ice, etc.), modern medicine may leave individuals feeling lost when it comes to long-term management and reduction of chronic pain.

07 Jul 17Due to the worldwide prevalence of farm workers dying or becoming ill, thus unable to work and support their family, the scientific community has begun taking a closer look at what is causing the disease and illnesses affecting them. 11 Sep 14Feeling full quickly when eating, experiencing bloating during and after meals, or suffering from acid reflux may all be signs of low stomach acid – clinically referred to as hypochlorhydria. 26 Jul 18In my line of work, many patients come with chronic conditions that affect their quality of life, for which there has been little to no “standard” solution. Symptoms such as slowly worsening fatigue, weight gain, skin rashes, headaches, and joint pain are common complaints.
09 Mar 15In order to effectively optimize your digestive health, it is imperative that you approach this systematically to ensure long-term results. My four-tiered approach to optimal health is to Remove any possible triggers causing the digestive disturbance in the first place, Repair the intestinal lining, challenge the digestive tract by Reintroducing different food groups and observing the body’s reaction to identify possible food sensitivities, and Reinoculate the healthy bacteria in order to support the body’s immune system and maintain digestive function.

?>In the last decade, migraine headaches have become a common health complaint. A review in 2013 indicated that anywhere between 16.2% to 22.7% of adults over the age of 18 complained of episodic or chronic migraines. The occurrence was higher in females than in males, and specifically in women of reproductive age. A large amount of data on the rates of migraine occurrence, treatment, predisposing factors, comorbidities, and prevention has been collected and analyzed by the American Migraine Prevalence and Prevention (AMPP) study; this is an ongoing study that is continuing to collect and report such data on migraine epidemiology.18 Sep 18In the last few years, the hype around “superfoods” has many of us adding random dried fruits and ingredients to our day without understanding what they are and how they work.
